When moving into a Leasehold Flat you must take into consideration that fact that you will be living in very close proximity to your neighbours and there are more considerations to take on board to try to avoid any neighbour disputes.

The majority of complaints we receive from Lessees is down to noise issues between flats and we always advise that being more aware of your actions could lessen the issues your neighbours have.

ARMA recommend that a little bit of respect and consideration for you fellow Leaseholders can go a long way and we strongly agree.

If you are planning a ‘moving in’ party making your neighbours aware is always a great start to get off on the right foot. The regulations for noise is that between the hours of 10pm and 7am nothing should be audible from your flat so be mindful that a TV on the floor could penetrate noise into the flat below very easily. Also wooden floors mean that even walking across the floor can sound like elephants have moved in above so soft floor coverings is always recommended and sometimes even stated in your lease.

Our advice is – if it would annoy or upset you then more than likely it will your neighbours so perhaps think twice before cranking up the volume on your favourite song at midnight!
